Service operator

DeepfakePolicy is a product and trading name operated by Código Solidário Lda, a Portuguese sociedade por quotas, NIF/NIPC 519431553, with registered address at Rua da Arriba, N.º 18-Ac, Condomínio Vigias da Arriba, 2560-046 A dos Cunhados, Torres Vedras, Lisboa, Portugal.

What you can check

DeepfakePolicy is our own system for checking photos and videos for AI generation and manipulation. It also supports document comparison and the additional checks shown in your account. Reports explain the findings and next steps. Available formats and file limits are shown before you submit.

We evaluate model updates separately from live checks. Evaluation results do not change your report.

Understanding a result

A report helps you assess a file. Results are estimates and can be wrong or inconclusive. Check the original and its source before making an important decision about someone, a payment or a claim.

Using the service

• Only submit material you have the right or another lawful basis to use. This can include identifiable people, voices and ordinary personal data.
• You can check contracts, invoices, financial records and confidential business documents in supported workflows. You must be allowed to share and process them. Use a company workspace or the API, and include only what the check needs.
• Sensitive information may need extra permissions and safeguards. Before uploading, check the applicable law, confidentiality duties and the requirements of the selected service and its providers. Upload only after the required safeguards and agreements are in place.
• Do not submit illegal content, child sexual-abuse material, non-consensual intimate content or material obtained or shared unlawfully. Redact live passwords, recovery codes, payment-card security codes and unnecessary secrets.
• Research contributions are a separate, optional use for eligible personal accounts. Do not contribute intimate content, material involving children, medical or financial records, confidential documents, credentials or highly sensitive identity documents. You must have permission for the additional storage, review and research use.
• Respect other people’s privacy and intellectual-property rights. Do not bypass limits, disrupt the service, extract credentials or reverse engineer protected provider systems.
• Check important claims independently before acting on a result.

Credits, reports and payments

Eligible new accounts receive 5 welcome credits. A company account has a separate workspace, balance, reports and billing. The person who creates it becomes its Owner.

A check reserves the displayed credit cost. The charge is confirmed when analysis completes. If the detection service fails before returning a result, the reserved credits are returned automatically.

Personal checks automatically save reports and retain checked sources privately for 180 days. Earlier deletion is available by email under the privacy policy. Research contributions require separate consent and are private and time-limited. An eligible contribution may earn 0.1 bonus credit, up to 1 credit per workspace per day. Exact duplicates are rewarded once; abusive submissions may be excluded. Deleting a contribution does not remove a bonus already earned.

Stripe handles checkout and payment details. Consumer prices are shown in the selected market currency. VAT-inclusive markets display VAT-inclusive prices. For United States purchases, USD prices are shown before any sales or similar tax that we are required to collect; Stripe displays any collected tax before payment. Tax treatment follows the customer location and our active tax registrations.

Subscription credits are added after each successful monthly payment. Confirmed credits remain until used while your account is open, subject to refunds, chargebacks, lawful suspension and your consumer rights. A full refund of a one-time pack removes the credits issued for that pack, even if this leaves a negative balance. To stop renewal, choose “Cancel subscription” in your account and confirm in Stripe. Your plan remains active until the end of the paid period. Cancelling renewal does not automatically refund a payment or remove credits already added to your balance.

Credit refunds

Credit purchases are non-refundable, except where required by law. We do not offer change-of-mind refunds for unused credits. This policy applies to new purchases made under these terms. The terms of earlier purchases stay unchanged.

Your legal withdrawal rights and rights when a service is not provided as agreed remain unchanged. We correct duplicate or incorrect charges. Credits reserved for a check that fails before returning a result are still returned automatically.

Your right to cancel a purchase

Checkout shows the price and any renewal terms before you pay. Stripe sends the payment confirmation.

EU and UK consumers generally have 14 days to withdraw from a digital-service purchase. Exceptions may apply. Starting the service during that period requires your express request. You lose the right only after full performance and the required acknowledgement. If you withdraw before then, a proportionate charge may apply where the law allows it. Your applicable rights remain for the unused part of a credit pack.

Eligible EU online purchases also require a two-step online withdrawal function from 19 June 2026. You can send a withdrawal request to deepfakepolicy@proton.me. Your legal rights, including remedies when the service does not meet the contract, are not limited by these terms.

Business Postpay

Business Postpay belongs to a company workspace and is billed by Código Solidário Lda. An Owner or Admin connects a company payment method, supplies billing and tax details, and chooses either a monthly spending limit of at least 1 unit of the workspace currency or Unlimited. There is no recurring subscription fee.

Each completed photo or video check is added to the company’s unbilled usage at the price displayed before processing. Failed processing is not billed. Basic photo checks cost $0.06, €0.06 or £0.05; Full photo checks cost $0.12, €0.12 or £0.10. Both include JSON, text and PDF reports. Full adds a separate automated visual review. Video costs $0.04, €0.04 or £0.03 per started second, with a minimum of $0.50, €0.50 or £0.40 per file. Source research is separate: three legacy credits for photos and five for video, at $0.25, €0.25 or £0.22 per credit. Basic cannot include source research. USD, GBP and EUR are available when company billing is connected; the selected currency remains fixed. Existing invoices, recorded usage and prepaid balances are not repriced. Automatic charging starts at $10, £10 or €10; after successful payments the threshold may rise to $25/$50, £25/£50 or €25/€50. Any remaining usage is invoiced at month end. Prices and spending limits exclude applicable tax. Stripe determines applicable tax, VAT or reverse-charge treatment from the company details.

Each completed business evidence comparison costs $0.75, €0.75 or £0.66 per case, within the displayed file and page limits. This covers reading documents and comparing submitted files and descriptions; AI-generation detection is a separate check. Failed processing is not billed. A completed comparison is billable even when the evidence is insufficient. Findings support human review and do not establish authenticity, fraud, insurance coverage or eligibility.

The monthly spending limit is a processing cap, not a prepaid balance. Owners and Admins can set it to any amount from 1 unit of the workspace currency or choose Unlimited. Unlimited removes the processing cap; usage metering, automatic threshold charges and month-end invoicing continue.

A failed payment pauses new live processing until billing is restored. The monthly limit includes reserved and completed work and stops new processing before the limit is exceeded. Creating a company workspace does not transfer personal credits, reports or subscriptions. Existing company credits remain recorded but are not required while active postpay is used.

Company accounts

Company workspaces can hold members, invitations, cases, assignments, tags, notes, saved-report links, exports and an activity history. The company decides who can access its workspace and remains responsible for decisions based on reports.

A signed pilot order, service agreement or data-processing agreement may add to or replace these terms for that customer. The signed agreement takes priority where they differ.

Evidence API

The API is available to company workspaces. Sandbox keys return fixed examples without analysing content or creating billable usage. Live photo and video access becomes available after company postpay is connected or under a separately approved company arrangement.

Keep API keys and webhook secrets private. Keys belong to the company workspace, can be revoked and must not appear in public client code. Check webhook signatures and use idempotency keys to avoid duplicate jobs.

Source files are temporary. You choose report retention from one hour to seven days. Delete data when you no longer need it. Rate limits, supported formats and availability may change for security, service or legal reasons. API reports have the same limits as interactive reports.

Service providers

We use external companies for hosting, analysis and other features. Their availability and terms can affect the service. An external link does not mean we control or endorse that website.

Changes and restricted access

We may temporarily limit features for security, abuse prevention, legal requirements, provider outages or maintenance. We may block activity that reasonably appears abusive, harmful or outside these terms.

For paid services, we will give notice of material reductions where practicable. Your cancellation and refund rights remain unaffected.

Service limits and liability

We cannot promise uninterrupted access or a particular detection result. The service is provided as available, to the extent allowed by law. Nothing here excludes liability that the law does not allow us to exclude.

Applicable law

Portuguese law applies. This does not remove mandatory rights you have elsewhere. Portuguese courts have jurisdiction unless mandatory law or your signed business agreement says otherwise.

Contact and updates

Write to deepfakepolicy@proton.me with questions. We date material changes and give advance email or in-product notice when they adversely affect a paid service. Changes apply going forward and do not remove existing rights. If you do not accept a material change during a paid term, you may cancel before it takes effect, with any refund required by law.
