How we research, review and correct our guides
Our guides explain how to check suspicious content. We link to the sources we use, state the limits of the checks and correct mistakes.
Who publishes the guides
DeepfakePolicy, operated by Código Solidário Lda, publishes the guides and is responsible for their accuracy and corrections. Sources are linked so you can check the supporting information.
Before publication
We check factual claims against the listed sources, date information that can change and explain the limits of detector results. We describe a product test only when it was actually performed, with its conditions and limits. Guides include source links and publication and review dates.
Sources
We prefer original standards, public authorities, peer-reviewed research and product documentation. Guides link to supporting material so you can read it yourself. News reports may illustrate a recent example, but do not replace an available original source.
Language and localization
The English product interface and verification guides use US English. A market-specific page may follow local legal terminology, and titles of laws, organizations and source documents retain their official wording. Localized detector pages identify any linked methodology, legal text, technical output or export that remains available only in English.
Accuracy claims
A marketing percentage or one successful test does not establish accuracy. Comparisons need representative labelled data, documented sampling, model versions and stated limits. Until those results are published, a detector output is an estimate, not proof.
Use of AI tools
We may use software and AI tools to organise research, draft outlines, edit language or write code. They do not establish facts. We check claims against cited sources and remain responsible for the published wording. We do not invent tests, qualifications, partners, customers or results.
Commercial relationships
Our system uses specialist services for some analysis steps. A service relationship is separate from an editorial recommendation. We identify material sponsorships and paid editorial relationships on the relevant page.
Corrections
Email deepfakepolicy@proton.me with the page URL, the statement in question and a supporting source. We review and correct substantiated errors and update the page date. Changes that affect meaning receive a visible correction note; minor spelling or layout fixes may not.
Important decisions
Use guides and reports alongside the original evidence. For decisions affecting someone’s rights, money, work, education, safety or reputation, include a qualified person in the review.
